EXPO Chicago 2024

Tura Oliveira’s work uses the dual languages of craft and science fiction to draw parallels between marginalised identity and marginalised material culture, and flesh out the expansive mythology of a future earth. Geary’s booth at EXPO Chicago will place Tura’s textile work in conversation with new works on paper. Currently an Abbey Awards Scholar at the British School at Rome, Tura’s new works draw upon her research on women mystics, demonic possession, and Rome’s palimpsestic visual culture.
