Sun You uses a mix of everyday objects and craft materials to create provisional tableaux that celebrate women’s work, domestic ornamentation, and the language of abstraction. Her work is often playful and has an evanescent charm, evoking the impermanence and interdependence she sees around her. She draws beauty and humor from humble materials and creates work that reflects on the joy and fragility of the world. Sun is also a curator, gallerist, educator, and my wife.

Sun’s current solo exhibition, New You, presents a series of large paintings that combine colorful clay reliefs with gestural mark making.
