Ghost of a Dream at Untitled Art Miami Beach 2024

Geary is pleased to present two distinct bodies of work by artist duo Ghost of a Dream at Untitled Art Miami Beach this December in Booth C5! Ghost of a Dream’s Paradise Lost series confronts climate disasters through images sourced from online news: melting icebergs, sprawling lithium mines, bleached cor­al reefs, mountaintops on fire, and firefighting planes cutting through smoke-filled skies. By overlaying and desaturating these images, Ghost of a Dream creates ethe­real compositions that blend beauty with devastation, transforming environmental crises into haunting portraits of our interconnected ecological challenges. Their seven-screen video sculpture Aligned by the Sun (Through the Revolution II) orchestrates sunset footage captured by artists from 223 nations and territories, in­cluding each of the 193 U.N. Member States. This immersive installation invites viewers to enter a ring of screens, experiencing the setting sun from each of these points across the globe. Their piece affirms that despite our shifting borders and fractured politics, we share one planet, united by the same light and warmth. These complementary works speak to humanity’s role in the environmental crisis and its potential renewal. While “Paradise Lost” documents our planet’s ongoing devastation, “Aligned by the Sun” suggests the possibility of global unity. Together, they remind us that our shared dependence might serve as a catalyst for collective action in the face of environmental catastrophe.
